Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of two green pine trees in silhouette arched at base and centered on a white equilateral triangle with angles couped and sides concave, all within a green border.

Symbolism
The modified triangle represents Fort McCoy's cantonment area configuration.  The two pine trees allude to the Fort's location in western Wisconsin where the tree is a prominent feature.  The white area suggests the abundant snow of the area's long winters.  The green border suggests containment and support of annual Army training exercises.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 15 May 1984.
